Battle of Britain Commemorations 2024

Battle of Britain commemorations are held annually in Tasmania to commemorate the successful air defence of Great Britain against unrelenting offensive counter air conducted by the Luftwaffe. This was the first military campaign fought entirely by air forces. The British officially recognize the battle’s duration as being from 10 July – 31 October 1940. Historic details of the Battle of Britain can be found here.

This event is the Royal Australian Air Force Association national commemoration of the Battle of Britain in Australia. It is held to commemorate this significant aerial battle in which many Australian pilots and ground crew fought while serving with the Royal Air Force. Each September, many serving and ex-members of the Royal Australian Air Force, plus persons involved or interested in aviation, meet in Hobart for the commemorations. Air Attaches and Advisors from many countries attend the activities.
