Battle of Britain Commemorations 2024

The Battle of Britain commemorations are held annually in Tasmania to commemorate the successful air defense of Great Britain against unrelenting offensive counter air raids conducted by the Luftwaffe. It was the first military campaign fought entirely by air forces. The British officially recognize the battle’s duration as being from 10 – 31 October 1940. Historic details of the Battle of Britain can be found here.

This is the Royal Australian Air Force Association national commemoration for the Battle of Britain in Australia. It is held to commemorate this significant aerial battle in which many Australian pilots and ground crew fought while serving with the Royal Air Force. Each September, many serving and ex-members of the Air Force, plus people involved or interested in aviation, meet in Hobart for the commemorations. Air Attaches and Advisors from many countries support the activities.
