Branch Information

The North West Branch of the Tasmanian Division of the RAAFA has seen a reduction in number over recent years, however, the Branch continues to provide mate-ship and support to the ex-service personnel and their families. Our region covers a large portion of the state, and whilst members can came from as far as Queenstown and Smithton, most are based around the ‘Central Coast’ (Burnie to Devonport). Meetings are generally held in one of the various RSL clubs across the region, whilst for the smaller committee meetings we select one of the local cafes.

The Branch was formed back in the 1950’s. Former members of the RAAF, other services and their families have ensured that the Branch has operated continuously for over 70 years. In 2012 the Branch in conjunction with the Central Coast Council opened and dedicated Air Force Park, which is situated on the western bank of the Leven River in the town of Ulverstone. The park is dedicated to all RAAF members who have served their country.  The park included a ‘wall’ which is the finial resting place for the ashes of ex-RAAF members.

The Branch is a strong supporter of the two Air Training Corp squadrons located in the region, providing annual trophies and funds. We also sponsor a number of birds at the Wings Wildlife Park, ensuing their day to day care is meet.

We hold regular social events. A monthly ‘coffee morning’ is held on the second Tuesday of each month from 10am at Dalton’s Cafe in Ulverstone. Various lunches and BBQ round out our social gatherings.

The Branch is always on the look out for new members and we welcome visitors to our social events.
